2006 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
(Anderson Valley, Mendocino County)
This wine marks our first release of an Anderson Valley bottling. With this Pinot, we were looking to create a food-friendly, nuanced wine that represents the character of the Anderson Valley. Somewhat remote from most of Northern Californiaís winegrowing districts, this valley is a surprisingly harmonious blend of the wild and the civilized: in one vista, one can see sheep ranches, redwood groves, apple orchards, and impenetrable oak scrub.
This wine exemplifies the clean, detailed lines of classic Anderson Valley Pinot Noir. The nose bristles with bright red fruits and undertones of clove and allspice. The mouth hovers between tight and expansive, with broad flavors of redcurrant and wild strawberry carrying through to a long, expressive finish.
